1 dead, another seriously injured after ATV accident in rural Knox County

25-year-old Angus Carlson from Altona was killed in the accident, officials say. 19-year-old Logan Meier of Cambridge sustained life-threatening injuries.

KNOX COUNTY, Illinois — Update, April 16: The Knox County Sheriff's Office named the victims in this crash. 25-year-old Angus Carlson of Altona was killed in the incident, and 19-year-old Logan Meier of Cambridge was injured. No updates on Meier's condition were provided.

One person is dead and another sustained life-threatening injuries after an ATV accident in rural Knox County Saturday night, officials say. 

Around 10:45 p.m. Saturday, April 13, an ATV was traveling through a field near the 2800 block of Knox Road 900E when it struck an embankment, coming to an immediate stop. According to the Knox County Sheriff's Office, the driver — a 25-year-old man from Altona — was killed in the incident. The 19-year-old passenger sustained life-threatening injuries and was life-flighted to OSF Peoria. 

The identities of the victims are being withheld pending family notification. No other information, including the condition of the passenger, was provided. The Knox County Sheriff's Office Accident Reconstruction Team is currently investigating.
