RIVERDALE, Iowa — Caitlin Clark has won countless awards throughout her young career. Now, she can add another item to his list of accolades: having two bald eagles named after her!
A pair of beloved Arconic eagles, Liberty and Justice, welcomed two eaglets back in April. Their names? Caitlin and Clark. Those two received 36% of the votes out of five sets of names.
The pair of feathery parents first made their nest near the Arconic plant in Riverdale in 2009. Since 2010, when the eagle camera was installed, Liberty and Justice have fledged sixteen eagles from their nest, fourteen of which have been named: Freedom, Spirit, Faith, Hope, Honor, Glory, Rudy, Star, Sky, Mercury, Gemini, Apollo, Windy and Storm.
Eggs typically hatch in mid to late March and are usually ready to fly by June.
Arconic says that since the camera was installed, 35 million visitors have watched the stream worldwide.
