Eaglet hatches live on Arconic Eagle Cam

The bird's parents, Liberty and Justice, first made their nest near the Arconic plant in 2009.

RIVERDALE, Iowa — Editor's note: A previous version of this story said the eagles' nest is in Davenport. It is located near the Arconic plant in Riverdale. The error has been corrected and we apologize for the mistake.

A pair of beloved local eagles have welcomed their first eaglet of the season.

Liberty and Justice hatched the newest member of their family live on the Arconic Eagle Cam on Monday, April 1. Arconic officials said there's still one egg left in the nest that will hopefully hatch in the near future, as well.

The pair of feathery parents first made their nest near the Arconic plant in Riverdale in 2009. Since 2010, when the eagle camera was installed, Liberty and Justice have fledged sixteen eagles from their nest, fourteen of which have been named: Freedom, Spirit, Faith, Hope, Honor, Glory, Rudy, Star, Sky, Mercury, Gemini, Apollo, Windy and Storm.

Eggs typically hatch in mid to late March and are usually ready to fly by June.

Arconic says that since the camera was installed, 35 million visitors have watched the stream from all around the world.
