Storms knock out power for approximately 1,200 Ameren Energy customers in the greater QC region Tuesday night

As of Wednesday, Apr. 17, power has been restored for nearly all Ameren customers in the News 8 viewing area.

Original Story

Severe storms spawned tornadoes and caused a significant power outage in Aledo, according to Ameren Energy.

Approximately 1,250 customers were out of power around Aledo as of 7:15 p.m. on Tuesday, April 16, according to Ameren's outage map. Mercer County Towing and Recovery sent in a picture of a downed power line on IL-17 east of Aledo.

Additionally in Iowa City, MidAmerican Energy's power outage map said that approximately 1,900 people are without power Tuesday night as well.
