ROCK ISLAND, Ill — The Rock Island Public Library's second two-day book sale of the year is on Friday, April 26 and Saturday, April 27. Both sales will run from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the Community Room of the Rock Island Downtown Library at 401 19th St.

Unless otherwise marked, the books will be sold on a pay-what-you-can basis. There will be a wide range of genres available, from fiction to nonfiction, children to teen titles, cookbooks to magazines and more. There will also be some mint-condition graphic novels/comics that might be of interest to collectors.

A special pricing table will also include some new, sealed DVDs.

Proceeds from the sale will benefit special library programs and services.

The sale is being run by the 501c3 Rock Island Public Library Foundation's volunteer group, PALS. It stands for 'People Advocating for Library Services.'

PALS volunteers host two-day book sales on the fourth Friday and Saturday of each quarter. The group also assists with programming support, library greeters, large events, the library's advocacy team and special projects such as the library's fine-free lending policy.

Upcoming PALS projects include a 'Together We Care' dining fundraiser, co-hosted by the Friends of the Moline Library Foundation, at Applebee's on May 21. There will also be a Spring Beautification Day around the downtown branch on May 24.

PALS is always looking for new members to provide support and volunteer hours. To join, you can fill out a membership form. Annual memberships range from $10 for those 18 years or younger to $30 for a family. You can click here to learn more or contact the Library Foundation at riplfoundation@gmail.com.
