MOLINE, Ill. — Moline-Coal Valley School District was recently named an Innovative District for the 2024 Model Schools Conference in June. The event is hosted by the Center for Model Schools, which is a division of the education company Houghton Mifflin Harcourt.

The annual gathering celebrates "excellence and innovation in education, spotlighting exemplary practices that serve to inspire and empower educators worldwide," according to a press release.

Moline-Coal Valley will present "Prioritizing Culture to Drive Student Achievement" at the conference. The district says the presentation talks about using data to help "embrace the power of creating culture" in schools to maximize personalized learning. Presenters will be Deputy Superintendent Dr. Brian Prybil, Hamilton Elementary Principal Lynsy Oswald and Bicentennial Elementary Principal Steven Etheridge.

"We are truly honored to be acknowledged as an Innovative District at the 2024 Model Schools Conference," Superintendent Dr. Rachel Savage said. “I am beyond proud of the way our teachers and leaders pour into our students every single day and remain laser-focused on improving their schools, because our kids deserve the best. I am incredibly grateful to serve among them.”
