GALESBURG, Ill. — The Illinois State Police is asking for the public's help after a Galesburg mom was killed in a hit-and-run in January.

Back on Jan. 1, 23-year-old Destiny Dixon of Galesburg was one of many people who went to help a driver after a rollover accident on Interstate 55 near Braceville, Illinois. Police say Dixon was standing by the vehicle when another driver sped through the crash scene, striking Dixon and another person. She later died from her injuries. Police say she was a mother of two.

The driver fled the scene going northbound on Interstate 55 and was last seen in the Interstate 55 and Interstate 80 interchange area. The vehicle has been identified as a dark gray 2010-2011 Mitsubishi Endeavor. According to ISP, the driver's side of the vehicle had significant damage.

ISP is asking anyone with information on the incident to contact Sgt. Cary Morin at (779) 243-4770 or the Grundy County Crime Stoppers at (815) 942-6645. A $1,000 reward is being offered for information that leads to an arrest.
