DAVENPORT, Iowa — Davenport firefighters are investigating a vehicle fire that spanned several hundred yards and caused damage to an electrical transformer.
On Thursday, May 23 around 1:22 a.m., firefighters responded to a reported vehicle fire, finding items on fire in the street and a burning pickup truck several hundred yards down the road upon arrival. The truck came to a rest after striking and damaging an electrical transformer. Firefighters extinguished the blaze and found the truck had suffered significant fire damage to the bed and cab areas.
Fire crews also extinguished the burning items left in the roadway.
The driver of the truck was transported to a local hospital to be treated for minor injuries.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
