Quad Cities community invited to Alzheimer's Association art therapy event

The Alzheimer's Association will host an art therapy program for patients and families to make lasting memories.

MOLINE, Ill. — Editor's Note: The video above highlights how a DeWitt nursing home uses music therapy to help residents suffering from memory loss.

Coming up at the Vibrant Arena at the Mark on May 3 is the Alzheimer's Association's annual fundraiser -- Memories in the Making.

The event allows Alzheimer's and dementia patients a chance to showcase the artwork they've created through the Association's Making Art Therapy program. All the patients' pieces will be available for a bid through a live and silent auction.

Money raised through the auctions will go back into the community to fund future projects with the Alzheimer's Association.

Doors to the Vibrant Arena open for this event at 5:30 p.m. on May 3. The event is free to attend.
