QCA Hy-Vee stores collecting pet products in annual drive honoring actress Betty White

The annual pet food and supply drive is in its third year, honoring the longtime actress and animal welfare advocate.

MOLINE, Ill. — Hy-Vee stores across the Quad Cities area are collecting pet food and products in honor of longtime actress and animal welfare advocate, Betty White. 

In what is called the #BettyWhiteChallenge, Hy-Vee stories throughout the Quad Cities, North Scott and Clinton will be accepting donations for the Quad City Animal Welfare Center in Milan and the Humane Society of Scott County. The drive started on Monday, Jan. 8, and lasts until Sunday, Jan. 14. 

Here are some products the animal shelters included on their wish lists:

  • wet dog or puppy food
  • wet kitten food
  • Purina dog and puppy chow (preferably the non-colored blend)
  • Purina cat and kitten chow
  • lickable/squeeze cat treats
  • dog treats
  • special diet food (i.e. urinary health cat food)
  • low-sodium chicken broth 
  • low sodium canned chicken
  • dog and cat toys
  • rubbing alcohol
  • hydrogen peroxide
  • oral thermometer
  • unscented lube or petroleum jelly
  • Benadryl
  • disinfecting wipes
  • Dawn dish soap
  • training pads
  • clay cat litter (non-clumping)
  • paper towels
  • toilet paper
  • trash bags
