CHICAGO — After 19 months away from the diamond, former Alleman High School standout Cody Sedlock is returning to professional baseball.

The former Baltimore Oriole signed a minor league deal with the Chicago White Sox on Monday. Before signing, Sedlock had missed over a year and a half of baseball after undergoing Tommy John surgery in March of 2023.

The Illinois alum was selected by the Orioles with the 27th overall pick in the first round of the 2016 MLB Draft. Sedlock made his big league debut with the Orioles in 2022 and last pitched for the Toledo Mud Hens, a triple-A affiliate of the Detroit Tigers.
