BETTENDORF, Iowa — The City of Bettendorf is asking the community to help name two recycling trucks.
According to a press release, the City received 4,446 name submissions to its Recycling Truck Naming Contest between March 18 and April 18. Of those submissions, 94% were in honor and memory of a local boy named Reid, who loved garbage and recycling trucks. He passed away from cancer in 2020 and one of the trucks has been named in his honor.
The City has created a poll of the 10 most submitted names and is asking for the public's help in deciding the names of the final two trucks. The poll will be open through Saturday, May 11 and the winning names will be announced during Public Works Day on May 18.
