DAVENPORT, Iowa — During a ceremonial groundbreaking on Friday, April 19, the Vera French Community Mental Health Center announced the expansion of its Vera French Clinic at 1441 West Central Park Avenue.
Plans include an expanded front entrance with an enhanced waiting room. Construction will take place throughout 2024 with completion expected near the end of the year.
“This project provides a modern and accessible front entrance to our historic Clinic on Central Park Avenue that will allow us to serve more people and give everyone a better treatment experience," said Dr. Rich Whitaker, Vera French CEO.
The location was built in 1971 and rededicated in 2021 for its 50th Anniversary. Following the expansion, renovations will be completed by updating the building's original windows, stabilizing exterior masonry, replacing the building’s roof, and completing other renovations.
“A positive, dignified, & trauma-informed experience is critical to foster the momentum of recovery from mental illness.” said Denise Beenk, MBA, LISW, a licensed social worker and Vera French COO. “This expansion helps to provide that experience from the first moment our clients and patients enter our Central Park Clinic.”
With the completion of the Vera French Clinic at Duck Creek in 2023 and the expansion of the Vera French Clinic at Central Park in 2024, the Vera French Community Mental Health Center is increasing its capacity to serve mental health needs in the Quad Cities area.
Other plans include the launch of Vera French’s Whole Person Co-Occurring Disorders (COD) Treatment Program which will be housed primarily within the Vera French Clinic at Central Park.
Vera French Central Park will continue to receive clients through its outpatient prescriber services, individual counseling, peer support and care coordination services, with Same Day Access initial mental health evaluations will also be available.
