ROCK ISLAND, Ill. — Get ready to get your cook on!
In January 2024, UnityPoint Health will offer a four-week interactive cooking class known as "Cooking with Heart." Taught by experienced dietitians, these lessons will focus on simple, affordable and heart-healthy foods to help students make healthy changes and have fun doing it.
Every year, more than 350 people sign up for the course. This time, classes are free of charge thanks to Trinity Health Foundation donors and Gilda's Club of the Quad Cities.
“We are honored to host this cooking series because of all of the wonderful benefits that participants get from eating with their health in mind,” Teresa Pangan said in a press release. Pangan is instructing Cooking with Heart and serves as UnityPoint Health's prevention and wellness strategist. “We have seen firsthand the amazing results our classes have given attendees. They’re changing how they cook, learning new cooking skills and adopting new, healthier habits.”
Classes are offered both online and in-person at the Cardiac Nutrition Center at Trinity Heart Center in Rock Island.
