PRINCETON, Ill. — The Bureau County Illinois Farm Bureau President has been elected to the state vice president position following the organization's election on December 4.
Evan Hultine is a sixth-generation farmer who's led the Bureau County Farm Bureau since 2017. At 36 years old, he's one of the youngest elected vice presidents in the organization's history.
Hultine joined The Current on News 8 to discuss his new appointment and what he hopes to move the bureau forward with over the next few years. You can watch his full interview in the above video.
Before his current appointment, Hultine served as Bureau County's Young Leader chairman, IFB Young Leader committee member and as a American Farm Bureau Federation Issues Advisory Committee member.
As a high schooler, Hultine was heavily involved in FFA. Then in college at the University of Illinois, he excelled in an agricultural policy class, which he credits as developing his passion for the Illinois Farm Bureau.
In a press release, Hultine said he wanted to ensure younger voices are heard within the bureau, as well as balancing and uplifting experienced voices throughout the state.
“We want experience; we want to lift people up; we want to engage everybody,” Hultine said.
