'Operation Prom' teaches Davenport North students the dangers of drinking and driving

The initiative brought students together with first responders to recreate a serious traffic crash scene to educate students about the danger of drinking & driving.

DAVENPORT, Iowa — Operation Prom exposed Davenport North High School students to the dangers of drinking and driving on Wednesday.

The safety-focused initiative brought student actors together with first responders to recreate the scene of a serious traffic crash to educate students about the consequences of drinking and driving.

Davenport North Student Cameryn Bergthold was one of the student actors participating in the initiative.

"I hope they learn that it could happen to anybody, even if you're a rule follower. And you never expect to be drunk driving and/or in this situation with a friend, that it could happen any time, any year, at any age," said Bergthold.

The event was a collaborative effort between the Davenport Police Department, Davenport Fire Department, Scott County Medic EMS and the Davenport Community School District.
