ROCK ISLAND, Ill. — Construction on 31st Avenue in western Rock Island will begin in April, with the project expected to continue until September.
The Illinois Department of Transportation and the City of Rock Island will begin the construction project on Friday, Apr. 5. A stretch of 31st Avenue from Illinois 92 (Centennial Expressway) to U.S. 67 (11th Street) will have daily lane closures throughout the construction.
The project is focused on patching and resurfacing the road. Flaggers will be present to manage daily lane closures. Illinois 92 ramps will be open during the project. The project, which costs approximately $1.4 million, is scheduled to be completed in September.
Drivers can expect delays throughout the project and are encouraged to use alternate routes if possible. The City of Rock Island urges drivers to be attentive to road signs around the construction project and to construction workers.
