1 killed in 2-vehicle crash in Knox County Thursday evening

A Galesburg woman died from her injuries following a crash near Seminary Street in Knox County Thursday night, according to Illinois State Police.

KNOX COUNTY, Illinois — A Galesburg woman is dead after her vehicle left the roadway of U.S. Route and struck another vehicle head-on near Seminary Street in Knox County, according to Illinois State Police. 

Roly V. Molenga, 22, and her passenger Donnell Mathews, 25, also of Galesburg, were traveling eastbound on U.S. Route 64 near Seminary Street when their Hyundai Elantra left the roadway, crossed the median and struck a Jeep Renegade head-on Thursday at approximately 7:10 p.m. 

A total of six people were transported to local hospitals to receive treatment for their injuries. Molenga died from her injuries after, according to ISP. 

The occupants of the Jeep Renegade suffered various injuries in the crash, from non-life-threatening to serious. 

ISP identified the driver as 39-year-old Kyle J. Reffett of Avon. Reffett suffered serious injuries and was airlifted to a nearby hospital. The other adult occupant is identified as 30-year-old Travis D. Clayton of Abingdon. Clayton was also airlifted for treatment. 

Two children were injured in the crash; a 10-year-old girl was airlifted and a 7-year-old boy was transported by ambulance to receive treatment. 

ISP said no other information is available at this time.
