WEST DES MOINES, Iowa — UnityPoint Health and Presbyterian Healthcare Services have decided to not form a new healthcare company together after "significant planning and consideration."
UnityPoint and Presbyterian announced their intention to create an organization in March with the goal of investing in innovation while lowering administrative costs.
“We believe this decision allows us to better meet the needs of our patients, team members, communities, and key stakeholders,” Sally Gray, board chair of UnityPoint, said. “As we move forward, UnityPoint Health is focused on identifying new, innovative ways to deliver low-cost, high-quality care to those we serve.”
UnityPoint Health is based out of West Des Moines and has five locations across the Quad Cities area, including Moline, Rock Island, Bettendorf and Muscatine. Presbyterian Healthcare is based in New Mexico.
As a result of this decision, UnityPoint's President and CEO Clay Holderman will be stepping down. Scott Kizer will replace him as appointed by the board of directors.
“We’re confident in Scott’s leadership going forward, and we remain committed to showing our people, patients and communities how much they matter,” Gray said.
