University of Iowa Health Care expanding urgent care clinics into Quad Cities

Urgent care services in the Quad Cities will be expanding as the University of Iowa grows their care facilities.

IOWA CITY, Iowa — Patients seeking routine care from University of Iowa Health Care soon won't need to make the drive to Iowa City.

For patients in the Quad Cities, University of Iowa Health Care is opening two new urgent care facilities to help keep the QC community's health in peak condition.

"Our goal is to provide more convenient access and continuity of care for our patients and employees who live in the Quad Cities area. By increasing same-day care access, we're showing our commitment to keeping health care local wherever we can," said Douglas Van Daele, Carver College of Medicine's vice dean for clinical affairs.

The two clinics will be located in Davenport and Bettendorf where local services are already in place for family medicine, pediatric specialty care and dermatology. Services at these urgent care clinics will typically have shorter wait times than an emergency room and are walk-in friendly.

"If you can't see a primary care provider right away, an urgent care clinic can be a great option when treatment is needed for minor cuts and burns, sprains and fractures," Van Daele said.

Both locations in the Quad Cities will have extended hours during the week and on weekends to provide help to patients in need.

The Davenport location is expected to open later this winter at 2705 E 53rd St., and the Bettendorf location at 865 Lincoln Rd. will open in 2024.
