The headmaster of a private school in Georgia cancelled classes because of weather, saying “it’s too beautiful” for school.

Headmaster Len McWilliams of Calvary Christian School in Columbus, Georgia, said he wanted to call off classes just once for good weather before he retired.

“I was calling school off one winter day because of the terrible weather.  The thought occurred to me that it would be great to call school off some day because it was too beautiful a day to go to school,” McWilliams said.

When he announced his plan to retire at the end of the current school year, McWilliams said he would be on the lookout for the perfect good weather day to cancel classes.  That day turned out to be Friday, October 11, 2013.

“Classes are called off this Friday, October 11th, for all students and teachers at Calvary Christian School because of the weather,” said a post on the school’s website.  “It is too nice a day to have school!”

McWilliams encouraged families to plan and enjoy a day of fun together.

“We are excited to be part of a ‘once in a lifetime’ family day off from school,” the web post said.
