SPRINGFIELD, Ill. (AP) — Gov. Bruce Rauner and Illinois state legislative leaders are continuing discussions about how to end an 11-month budget stalemate.

Rauner and leaders in the Illinois Legislature plan Friday meetings in Springfield ahead of the Tuesday scheduled end of the spring session. Leaders from both parties and the Republican governor resumed talks Thursday, a day after Republicans booed Illinois House Democrats for passing their own $40 billion budget without GOP input.

Rauner has threatened to veto that budget if it passes the state Senate. His office has said it is $7 billion out of balance. Democrats have noted that the budget Rauner proposed in February was also $4 billion short of expected revenue.

Illinois has been without a state budget since last summer. The state is facing a $5 billion deficit.
