'Illuminate' your holidays at Weed Park in Muscatine

Crossroads Inc. is holding the drive-through light show every night from now through New Year's Eve.

MUSCATINE, Iowa — Muscatine is hoping to start a new holiday tradition with its new holiday light show.

The drive-through show features more than 40 light displays and benefits Crossroads Inc., a nonprofit providing support services to seniors and people with disabilities. There's a $10 per car donation.

"We really felt that a holiday light show could shine a light on the importance of our mission and the services that we provide," Megan Francis, the marketing director at Crossroads, said. "So we are illuminating our mission through a holiday light show."

"iLLUMINATE" by Crossroads opened Thanksgiving night in Weed Park with 362 cars driving through the show. The marketing director said the showstopper is a 200-foot light tunnel that you drive under.

"Working with seniors, people with disabilities, there can be times of frustration and communication if there's any dementia or intellectual disability, but the experience of holiday lights tends to bring everybody together," Francis said. "It's something that the whole family can get into the car. Together they can drive through and just create that moment of joy."

The light show is open every night from now through New Year's Eve from 5:30-8:30 p.m. Enter Weed Park through the Colorado Street entrance.
