Volunteers ‘Make A Difference’ by donating baskets of hope to women in need

The baskets included personal and household items like shampoo, toothbrushes and paper towels.

ROCK ISLAND, Illinois — Dozens of volunteers came together to assemble nearly 250 Baskets of Hope on Saturday morning, Oct. 22. The baskets included personal and household items like shampoo, toothbrushes and paper towels.

The donation is intended to help empower women to rebuild their lives. It's fitting that this event happened on Make a Difference Day, one of the largest days of service nationwide.

"I am thrilled. We have all age groups. We've got the Quad Cities very well represented and I couldn't be more thrilled with the wonderful work we are doing," said Cynthia Tidwell of Royal Neighbors of America.

The baskets were put together by Royal Neighbors members. This is the group's 21st year participating in Make a Difference Day.

Next, they'll be distributing the baskets to several shelters in the Quad Cities, including Family Resources, Winnie's Place, the Crisis Pregnancy Center and Humility of Mary.
