Quad Citians had the chance to bid on bikes at an auction hosted by the police.

The Rock Island Police department held its Annual Police Auction on Saturday, June 15, 2013.

Sgt. Robert Schroeder from the department said along with about 150 bikes up for auction, tools, clothing, electronics, cell phones, and other items were on the bidding block as well.

Schroeder said many of the bikes were abandoned and found by officers. He said the department would hold the bike for a certain amount of time and if an owner could not be located, the bike is added to the auction.

You can register your bike by going to the front desk at the Rock Island Police Department.
