STOCKTON, Illinois — When deputies in Jo Daviess County saw open alcohol during a traffic stop, the passenger reportedly ran off into a field.
The vehicle was stopped just before 8:30 p.m. on Saturday, May 7, 2016 for an expired registration, according to a statement from the county sheriff’s department. When they decided to do a search, the passenger, 36-year-old Kenneth L. Sanders ran into a field.
Sanders was apprehended shortly after, and was charged with unlawful transportation of alcohol, unlawful possession of a controlled substance – more than 15 grams, but less than 100 grams, a small amount of cannabis, and resisting a peace officer, according to the statement.
The 28-year-old driver was released at the scene.
