A memorial service in Rock Island honored fallen police officers.
The ceremony, which began with a rider-less horse to symbolize the fallen warrior, commemorated those who have given their lives.
There was a performance of Amazing Grace and a 21-Gun Salute. Carnations were also laid to honor these officers.
Locally, 46 officers have fallen in the line of duty.
“This day is a day we can take time and remember those people,” said retired U.S. Secret Service Agent, Bill Albracht. “The sentinels, the guardians of our life of our laws of our liberty.”
