Just two days after a woman was shot and killed in a Coralville, Iowa mall, family and friends set up a memorial to honor her.

Andrea Farrington, age 20, was working in the Iowa Children's Museum in the Coral Ridge Mall's welcome center when police say 22-year-old Alexander Kozak shot her three times. Farrington was taken to the hospital but succumbed to her injuries.

The shooting happened around 7:30 p.m. Friday, June 12, 2015. Kozak was arrested and charged with first degree murder. He was being held in Johnson County Jail.

On Sunday, June 14, more than 100 family members, friends, co-workers, and other community members gathered in front of Farrington's workplace at the mall, according to the Iowa City Press Citizen.

A photo of Farrington, flowers, messages and teal ribbons adorned the area. Teal was Farrington's favorite color, and was displayed widely on the memorial, according to the report. Visitors even pinned small teal ribbons to their shirts.

"Turnout this morning is a true testament to the number of lives Andrea touched," said the mall's general manager Monica Nadeau. "As I look around I see friends and family of Andrea, and I'm reminded of the impact that she had on the people around her."

The executive director of the museum, where Farrington worked as a playologist and guest experience specialist, said she remembers Farrington as being energetic and positive.

"She was an amazing, incredible person," said executive director Deb Dunkhase, according to the report. "Andrea wasn't just an employee. We're not just a staff; we're not just a team. We're a real family, and that's why we cared so much about Andrea."
