CAMANCHE, Iowa — The 27th Annual Muscular Dystrophy Association fundraiser was held over the weekend. The weekend's events wrapped-up with championship rounds of the bag board and basketball tournaments, which both drew participation from twenty teams.

Cheryl Paach, Camanche MDA Chairwoman, said the goal for this year's fundraiser was to hit the $500,000 mark in all time donations. The 2015 MDA fundraiser left the total at $464,000.

Community support in Camanche, population 4,400 has been overwhelming for fundraiser organizers.

"We are totally blessed to have the community we do because every year they come out and support us and they're wonderful," said Brenda Seeser, who helps put on the hog roast portion of the weekend's festivities.

The weekend includes a men's basketball tournament, bag board tournament, hog roast, cake auction, raffle and a Kiss the Pig contest.
