News Eight's Jason Fechner is in the homestretch of his 24-hour Salvation Army bell ringing marathon to raise money for the Red Kettle Campaign.

He started at 6 a.m. Friday, December 15, 2014 and will ring the bell until 6 a.m. Saturday, December 16, 2014. He is stationed on the corner of 2nd & Main Street in Davenport at the River Music Experience building.

"Well I figured 24 hours seems like a good, round number and everyone should have a chance within 24 hours to come and donate so, all the money is staying right here in the Quad Cities," said Fechner.

"This is just phenomenal. I've been an officer for 30 years and I've never had anyone come up and say, 'Hey we'd like to do a 24-hour marathon for bell ringing,' so this was just great for us and for the Salvation Army, so we're fortunate that he's willing to do that," said Gary Felton, Quad City Coordinator for the Salvation Army.
