Accident near LeClaire closes portion of I-80

According to the LeClaire Police Department, the I-80 bridge was closed on Sunday due to a multi-vehicle crash which blocked the eastbound lanes.

According to the LeClaire Police Department, the I-80 bridge was closed on Sunday due to a multi-vehicle crash which blocked the eastbound lanes.

One person was airlifted from the scene by Med Force and five others were taken to area hospitals by ambulance. None of the injuries appear to be life threatening, officials say.

Police are continuing to investigate the crash.

The LeClaire Police Department was assisted by the LeClaire Fire Department, Scott County Sheriff’s Office, Iowa State Patrol, Med Force, Medic Ambulance, Genesis Ambulance, Illinois State Police, the Rock Island County Sheriff, Port Byron Fire Department, the Davenport Police Department, and the Iowa Department of Transportation.

The Iowa Department of Transportation has removed the road closure warning on I-80 from its website.

A portion of I-80 has been shut down due to an accident that occurred on the I-80 bridge.

According to the Iowa Department of Transportation, the road has been closed near LeClaire between Exit 301, Middle Road, and Exit 306, US-67. A detour has been set up to reroute traffic.

The accident happened around 1:30 p.m. on Sunday, June 30, 2013.

The I-80 bridge was closed down in both directions.

Several ambulances were on the scene, along with a helicopter. Within the 2 p.m. hour, Illinois State Police began routing vehicles off the bridge.

An Iowa Department of Transportation traffic camera showed traffic eastbound on I-80 being rerouted to I-74.
