An East Moline man faces several charges after he allegedly rear-ended an Illinois State Trooper on Interstate 74.

An East Moline man faces several charges after he allegedly rear-ended an Illinois State Trooper on Interstate 74.

The trooper was trying to stop another vehicle on eastbound I-74 at about 11 p.m. Saturday, May 10, 2014 when the patrol car was rear-ended by a 2002 GMC 4×4, according to a spokesperson for Illinois State Police.

The 4×4 driver, later identified as 25-year-old Luis Galeana, reportedly fled and was later stopped by Moline Police near iWireless Center.

Witnesses reported traffic was backed up for more than an hour on I-74.

Police said they charged Galeana with hit and run, leaving the scene of an injury accident, driving under the influence and driving while revoked.

Galeana was held in the Rock Island County Jail.

The trooper’s injuries were reportedly not life-threatening.
