DIXON, Illinois -- The body of a driver who went off the road was recovered from the Rock River.
According to a statement from the Lee County Sheriff's Department, the driver had gone off White Oak Lane around 2:50 p.m. on Monday, May 6. That location is near the St. Mary's Cement plant.
When crews arrived the vehicle was completely submerged in the river, according to the sheriff's department.
The vehicle was pulled to shore and the driver, 23-year-old Devon M. Jenson from Dixon, was taken to a nearby hospital, said the sheriff's department. He was pronounced dead Monday evening.
There was nobody else in the vehicle.
A spokesperson with the Lee County Sheriff's Department said the man would likely be identified on Tuesday.
