Davenport Interim City Administrator will be appointed the city’s full-time city administrator in a special City Council meeting Wednesday night, according to an agenda posted on Davenport’s website.

Spiegel has served as interim administrator since June 2015, when she replaced long-serving administrator Craig Malin, who chose to move on following a flap over the city’s handling of an agreement with the new Rhythm City Casino over grading and utility work.

She was one of three finalists who interviewed with city officials and met the public in a series of meetings over July 11-12. She beat out the current town manager of Hilton Head, South Carolina and the city manager of Stallings, North Carolina.

A search committee was formed in late 2015 to find a permanent administrator. A paid consultant, Strategic Government Resources, reviewed 34 applicants prior to the search committee narrowing the list to the three semi-finalists.

This is Spiegel’s first time as a full-time city administrator. She previously served as economic development director of the city of Centennial, Colorado.

Davenport Mayor Frank Klipsch thanked members of the search committee as well as aldermen and Davenport residents.

“I appreciate the diversity of voices in the community who have been involved in this process,” Klipsch said. “I look forward to working with Corri as we continue to move Davenport forward.”

Spiegel said she was honored to have served as interim administrator and looks forward to the full-time job.

“I am proud of the great strides we have made in our transparency efforts, customer experience platform, public safety initiatives, and economic development and I look forward to continuing the progress.” she said.

Spiegel’s starting salary as City Administrator is $178,000.

Tomorrow’s special meeting is scheduled for 5:30 p.m. at City Hall.
