The publicist representing legendary television producer and host Dick Clark confirms the star has died.

Clark was 82.

Mr. Clark reportedly suffered a “massive heart attack” Wednesday morning, April 18, 2012.

After announcing he had Type 2 diabetes, Clark suffered a stroke in 2004, which led to a couple of years on hiatus from hosting the “New Year’s Rockin’ Eve” program he produced each year.   Clark returned to the annual broadcast in 2006, and his last “New Year’s Rockin’ Eve” aired as we entered 2012.

Clark hosted game shows including “The $25,000 Pyramid”, “Missing Links”, “Scattergories” and “The Object Is”.  He also hosted the Miss Universe pageant from 1990 to 1993.

He is perhaps best known for hosting the dance show “American Bandstand”.
