Police say a Sterling, Illinois teen tried to rob people at two businesses on the same night.

Police say a Sterling, Illinois teen tried to rob people at two businesses on the same night.

Initial reports indicated the suspect possibly used a knife to try to hold up a person at Dairy Queen, 1203 West 4th Street, and later at a BP gas station at 2218 E Lincolnway on Sunday, May 11, 2014.

Police said they arrested 19-year-old Jordan Wyatt, of Sterling, in connection with the two incidents.  Wyatt was arrested just before 9 p.m.

A witness reported Wyatt was arrested while driving a vehicle that matched a description given by victims to police.

Police said Wyatt was charged with two counts of attempted armed robbery, two counts of unlawful use of a weapon and two counts of aggravated assault.

Wyatt was held in the Whiteside County Jail.
