A Davenport man allegedly admitted to hitting a baby, leaving multiple bruises, because the baby would not stop crying.
Police were called to Genesis East, to investigate a three-month-old baby with bruises, just after 6 p.m. Wednesday, September 9, 2015. Investigators said the baby's father, 23-year-old David Allen Shaw, had been with the infant while the mother was at work.
"The father admitted during a post Miranda interview that he had hit the baby with an open hand three to four times when the child would not stop crying. This action caused several bruises on the back side of the child's legs, buttocks and lower back," said an affidavit filed by Davenport Police.
Shaw was arrested and charged with felony child endangerment with injury. Jail records showed he was booked into the Scott County Jail Monday, September 21, and that he remained held in lieu of $5,000 bond as of Wednesday afternoon, September 23.
