MASON CITY, Iowa (AP) — A northern Iowa woman accused of victimizing clients of an agency that serves individuals with disabilities has been given probation.

The Mason City Globe Gazette reports that 42-year-old Sheila White was sentenced to two years of probation for one count of dependent adult abuse; she was also fined $750 and given a deferred judgment.

Under a deferred judgment, White’s record will be cleared if she successfully completes probation.

She also was ordered to pay more than $320 in restitution.

White pleaded guilty in March 2016.  She was the second former Opportunity Village employee accused of stealing from the agency’s clients in 2015.  The two cases were not related, and neither of the women still work for Opportunity  Village.

“White used a Fareway gift card belonging to four Opportunity Village clients to buy items for herself, according to court documents,” the Globe Gazette report said.  It happened October 12, 2015.

Opportunity Village is based in Clear Lake, Iowa.
