Amboy, Illinois drug investigation leads to multiple arrests

Five people from Amboy, Illinois were arrested after a three-month-long drug investigation by multiple law enforcement agencies.

Since early November 2015, the Joint Operations Group (JOG) had been working with the Amboy Police Department to zero in on the city’s drug problem, according to a statement from Chief of Police Danny Langloss.  The JOG is a collaboration between the Dixon Police Department Street Crimes and Lee County Sheriff’s Detectives.

During their investigation, the JOG seized more than 70 grams of cocaine worth $7,000, according to the statement. Detectives conducted 15 controlled purchases and yielded 45 grams of cocaine.

On Thursday, February 4, 2016 detectives got arrest warrants for several suspects, the statement said.

“Amboy is not a safe haven for drug dealers and we are committed to keeping Amboy drug free,” said Chief Jeff Blake.

According to the statement, five people were arrested in connection with the investigation:

Shawn M. Rutherford, age 30, was charged with unlawful delivery of cocaine within 1,000 feet of a church, three counts of unlawful delivery of cocaine, and three counts of unlawful possession of cocaine. He was taken to the Lee County Jail.

Lian E. Pedersen, age 23, was charged with unlawful delivery of cocaine, unlawful possession with intent to deliver cocaine, and two counts of unlawful possession of cocaine. He was taken to the Lee County Jail.

Aaron M. Hubbell, age 19, was charged with unlawful possession of cocaine. He was processed and released on bond.

Both 20-year-old Damion J. Estes, and 36-year-old Mary E. Jenner were charged with two counts of unlawful delivery of cannabis and two counts of unlawful possession of cannabis.  Estes was processed and taken to Lee County Jail.  Jenner was processed and released on bond.
