DUBUQUE, Iowa — Seven men have been charged with distributing heroin in the Dubuque area in early 2016. All seven were previously charged in separate federal complaints filed in April.
One indictment alleges that Derrick Jermaine Brown “Big D”, 25; D’Anthony Lamont Moore “Lil D”, 23; Antwain Deshaun Spratt “T”, 38; Tywone Derrel Matthews, 39; and Jeffery Donta Hitchcock “Buddha”, 22, planned to distribute fentanyl and 100 grams of heroin near Jackson Park and Prescott Elementary School in Dubuque.
That indictment also includes various counts of distribution of heroin against each of the men, and one count of possession with intent to distribute heroin by Brown, Moore and Matthews.
The second indictment alleges that Antrell Desherron Lewis “Lucky”/”Star”, 22, and Antoine Tavares Mitchell “Nephew”, 23, also planned to distribute heroin near the park and school. In addition, it alleges one count of distribution of heroin by each man and possession with intent to distribute by Mitchell.
All seven men previously appeared in federal court following their arrests in April and early May. Brown, Moore, Spratt, Matthews, Lewis, and Mitchell were all held without bond. Hitchcock appeared in Chicago, Illinois, and was ordered returned to the Northern District of Iowa in custody, pending further proceedings.
Initial court appearances have not yet been set.
This case is being investigated by the Dubuque Drug Task Force and Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) Task Force consisting of the DEA; the Cedar Rapids Police Department; the Linn County Sheriff’s Office; the Marion Police Department; the Iowa City Police Department; and the Iowa Division of Narcotics Enforcement.
The case is being prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Dan Chatham.
