Hi, Quad Cities! I’m Josh Lamberty, and I’m the newest reporter for WQAD News 8. I’m excited to meet you and call the Quad Cities home.

Moving to a new town is tough. Introductions, especially now, are hard, too. Why don’t I start: Here are eight things to know about me:

1.  I’m an Eagle Scout. I was part of Troop 479 in Eden Prairie, Minn., for eight years.

2. While I was a scout, I did a lot of backpacking. I hiked nearly 100 miles over the course of two trips in the mountains in Wyoming, and paddled 50 miles in the Boundary Waters Canoe Area in northern Minnesota. And, between May and August 2020, I hiked more than 850 miles on local trails at home in Minnesota.

3. I graduated from Iowa State University in Ames, Iowa, in May 2020. There, I worked as a reporter at the student TV station for four years. I also worked as a resident assistant for three years.

4. I love to cook and try new recipes. There isn’t anything I am not willing to try – except that I am terrified of using my new Instant Pot. Do you have a favorite recipe? Send it my way!

5. When I’m not working, you’ll find me cheering on my favorite sports teams. I’ve been a Packers and Brewers fan my entire life. Yes, I know that’s weird having grown up in Minnesota.

6. My favorite movie, hands down, is The Post. Any movie starring both Tom Hanks and Meryl Streep is a good film. It’s about the Washington Post’s publishing of the Pentagon Papers and journalists uncovering the truth behind U.S. involvement in Vietnam.

7. My family is just a little obsessed with Disney. We’ve been to Disney World in Florida several times, and we’ve taken two Disney cruises. But, my all-time favorite vacation spot is the island of Oahu in Hawaii.

8. Speaking of travel, one thing on my bucket list is to visit every state before I turn 50 years old. I’ve only visited 13 so far, so I have quite a bit of work ahead of me. Where should I go next?

That’s a little bit about me. I’m excited to learn a little more about you, too. Let’s connect online on my Facebook or Twitter pages. And, if you see me around town, please stop and say hello!
