Tracking severe weather

A severe thunderstorm watch is in effect for much of the viewing area until 11 p.m.

A Severe Thunderstorm Watch has been issued for parts of the Quad Cities until 11 pm Sunday evening.

MOLINE, Ill. — Several weather alerts were issued for the Quad Cities and the surrounding areas Sunday evening, June 20.

A severe thunderstorm warning for Carroll, Jackson, Jo Daviess and Stephenson Counties has expired. Meteorologist James Zahara says hail is possible, under three-quarters of an inch. Winds are rolling at 60 mph.

A tornado warning that was in effect for Jackson County has expired.

According to the National Weather Service, the severe thunderstorm capable of creating a tornado was spotted near Bellevue around 8:40 p.m. This storm was moving east at 35 mph. 

A tornado warning for Des Moines, Hancock, Henderson and Lee (Iowa) Counties has expired.

"If you're watching us in Dallas City, I would say take cover immediately," said James at 9:01 p.m.

The storm is set to hit La Harpe around 9:25 p.m.

In the Quad Cities, the skies are looking rather quiet as of 9 p.m.

A Severe Thunderstorm WATCH has been issued for much of the area along and west of the Mississippi River until 11 pm.
