Juvenile passenger dies after SUV crashes into tree on Sullivan Slough Road

The car was traveling southbound on Sullivan Slough Road when it left the roadway for an unknown reason and struck a tree.

BURLINGTON, Iowa — One male juvenile died and another was injured their SUV left the roadway and struck a tree Saturday afternoon, Aug. 6 in Burlington.

According to Iowa State Patrol, a 2007 Chevy Trailblazer was traveling southbound on Sullivan Slough Road at about 1:45 p.m. Saturday when it left the roadway for an unknown reason and struck a tree.

The passenger in the SUV, a juvenile male, was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver, a 16-year-old boy, was injured in the crash and was transported to a local hospital for treatment of his injuries.

According to police, the incident remained under investigation.
