Traffic was backed up on Iowa-bound Interstate 74 after a crash between the Middle Road and Spruce Hills Drive off ramps.
Traffic was slowed causing back ups just before 7 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 5.
A car lost control, hit some ice and went into the median causing traffic to back up towards the Mississippi River. Bettendorf Police Chief Keith Kimball says the driver refused medical treatment at the scene, but crews did have to shut down I-74 in that area for a little while.
There was also an accident on I-74 on the Rock River Bridge. Traffic was slowed on I-280 near the Mississippi River Bridge too.
Elevated surfaces were prone to black ice Tuesday morning as temperatures dipped to the teens overnight.
