1 dead, 2 injured after pickup truck leaves I-88 roadway

The truck was traveling westbound on I-88 when it left the roadway, drove through the center median wires and came to a rest on the eastbound shoulder.

LEE COUNTY, Ill. — One man died and two others were injured early Tuesday morning, Aug. 9 when their pickup truck left the roadway on Interstate 88 in Lee County.

According to Illinois State Police, the crash happened at about 4:10 a.m. Tuesday near mile marker 63.25, in the area of Franklin Grove. 

Police said the pickup truck was traveling westbound on I-88 when it left the roadway "for unknown reasons," drove through the center median wires and came to a rest on the shoulder of eastbound I-88.

The driver, 27-year-old Corey O. Head, and rear passenger, 27-year-old Patrick J. Derham, both of Denver, Colorado were transported to a local hospital for treatment of life-threatening injuries.

The front passenger, 41-year-old Gareth J. Foster, also of Denver, died at the scene of the crash.

No other information was available as of Wednesday morning, Aug. 10.
