DAVENPORT, Iowa — One person has died after a semi hit a man walking on West River Drive, according to a statement from the Davenport Police Department.
Police said the man was walking eastbound in the center lane of West River Drive when he was hit from behind by a semi around 3:45 a.m. Friday, April 9. This happened east of Interstate 280 near Blue Grass Court.
"The driver of the semi remained on scene," said police.
After the crash, traffic was halted in both directions. It reopened before 8 a.m.
The Davenport Police Traffic Safety Unit has been assigned to investigate the incident.
