IOWA CITY, Iowa — Before the season began the Spartans made a checklist of goals to accomplish this season. That included a state title. The Spartans rewrote the Pleasant Valley history books in their state tournament run, including winning the program's first ever state championship.
Johnston went up 2-0 but the Spartans quickly answered, scoring 14 runs in the game -- the most they have all season.
