High school students at Lutheran High School in Rockford, Illinois had a unique way of showing spirit at a basketball game Thursday night. Many of them dressed up like their favorite sportscaster Dan Cohen from the local TV affiliate, WREX. They sported his signature thick-rimmed glasses, some dyed their hair, and they even had a mock TV news desk.
Their positive spirit propelled the home team to beat opponents from Byron, Illinois 70-59. Cohen was totally caught off guard saying, “I’ve been here for a year now. I had no idea this was gonna happen my first year working at 13. It blew me away. They had the desk, they had the scripts, they dyed their hair. I’m truly speechless. It was pretty great tonight.”
