The voters of Illinois decided to give Mark Curran the Republican nomination for U.S. Senate.
With 97% of precincts reporting, Curran wound up with 42% of the vote over four other competitors.
Curran, a former sheriff in Lake County, will challenge Democratic U.S. Senator Dick Durbin in November.
Durbin was elected to that seat in 1996.
