ORIGINAL: CARBON CLIFF, Illinois -- A precautionary boil order has been issued for properties located on Mansur Avenue, Mansur Street, Allen Street, Mansur Wood Subdivision and Rock River Townhomes.

The village was repairing a water main break on Mansur Avenue. The village is asking that you please boil your water before drinking and cooking. This is a precautionary measure put in place by the state of Illinois, the Federal Environmental Protection Agency, and the Village of Carbon Cliff.

By Monday morning, most of the town was without water, according to the village.  That included the downtown and Cliff Heights areas.  By 4:30 p.m., water had been restored, but a boil order remained in effect.

The boil order will remain until all EPA tests come back clear.
